In 2016, we are constantly surrounding by advertisements, technology, and social media. What would you do to get away from all of that? Wouldn’t it be nice to have a break for a couple of days and only return to the hustle and bustle of modern life when you feel like you’re ready? What if we told you that all it takes to get a break is a Wisconsin car rental and a well-considered plan?

Well, today is your lucky day. Because it’s true that all you need really is a Wisconsin car rental and a plan. Before school comes back, why not take a little road trip with your kids before they return to class, or with your hometown mates before you head off to your respective colleges. The road trip has been underrated for years now, but it’s time to bring it back. Here are a few fabulous road trips you can take this August in your Wisconsin car rental.

Choose the right car

You’ll need to choose your Wisconsin car rental depending on the type of road trip you have planned. For family trips, you’ll definitely want something a little more spacious and comfortable. Our Chrysler Town and Country or Kia Sportage are ideal for ensuring the entire family is cozy. There is plenty of space to keep all of your bags, as well as snacks and entertainment for your kids.

On the other hand, if you’re looking for a fun and chic road trip, then you’re probably looking for something closer to our sports cars. Our Ford Mustangs and Dodge Challengers are perfect for road trips with your friends. While not quite as spacious as something like the Kia Sportage, these sports cars are still comfortable without resorting to a clunkier, family vehicle.

Where to go around Wisconsin

So now that you have your proper vehicle, where can you go? There are more places around the state than you may be aware of, and certainly a good number of beautiful, scenic drives to take you away from the unappealing and busy interstate.

The Wisconsin Great River Road is one trip that we definitely recommend for anyone looking for a great road trip in their Wisconsin car rental. This road trip will take you along the only national scenic byway located in Wisconsin. It travels along Highway 35 – Great River Road – and offers plenty of wildlife and outdoor activities on the way. Beginning in Prescott, journeying 250 miles down to Kieler, you’ll see the state in all of its glory.

What would a trip to the Midwest be without a journey through the Kettle Moraine? We simply must recommend the Kettle Moraine scenic drive to all of our customers – even if you’ve been to the state before. This drive is 115 miles with 50,000 acres of land to explore and enjoy. Bookended by two lakes – Whitewater Lake and Elkhart Lake – you will be astonished at the wildlife and natural vistas that you’ll spot on this drive.

If you’re looking for more than just natural vistas and thrilling outdoor activities, then you’ll want to check out Driftless Area. On the way you’ll come across vineyards and orchards to explore the more human side of nature. While you certainly won’t miss out on any of Wisconsin’s bluffs, rivers, streams, Mississippi views and tugboats, or scenic Amish farms, you’ll also have an opportunity to see the urban end of the Midwest with classic diners along the way.

Looking for beaches and blue water? Then you need to take the Wisconsin Lake Superior Byway. This gorgeous drive concludes in an even more gorgeous final destination. You’ll find the Apostle Islands in the midst of Lake Superior, and have an opportunity to leave the urban centers behind.

Don’t wait until the middle of August to plan your road trip. Book your Wisconsin car rental today from Mayfair.
