Cats are territorial creatures and may not be the best travel buddy, even if you are excited for your vacation. They are not excited by new places and smells like their dog brothers and sisters may be, so you will need to be careful to keep your cat safe on your trip. Luckily, when you are travelling with your Milwaukee rental cars, there are a few tips you can follow to ensure your cat’s safety during your travels. All it takers is a bit of preparation and planning in order to make the most of your trip.

Choosing a car carrier

When you have a cat with your Milwaukee rental cars, there are some steps you will want to take. First of all, it can be dangerous to have a cat loose in the car, so it is important that you have a carrier that is a good size for your cat and easy to clean in case your cat becomes sick or has an accident during the journey. The size of the carrier should be large enough for your cat to sit or lie comfortably, but not so big that it can fall around inside, especially in the event that you need to brake suddenly. A lot of people also find it easier to lower the cat into a carrier from the top rather than the front, so you may want to find a carrier that you load from above. Alternatively, you can put your carrier on the side and lower your cat into it, gently turning it to the right position. Make sure you put a plastic lining at the bottom, then a towel or blanket so your cat is comfortable on the journey and is protected in case of an accident.

Securing the carrier

Place the carrier where it will be secure in Milwaukee rental cars in case of an emergency, like having to brake suddenly. It should also be in a place with good airflow, so placing it under luggage is not a good idea. Placing it right behind one of the front seats is one of the safest places to keep the cat. There is also the additional benefit that the carrier may be able to be secured with a seatbelt as well. It is important that you do not put your cat in the trunk, even if it is a hatchback, as there may not be good airflow back there and your cat may not be able to keep a comfortable temperature, leading to overheating.

Temperature matters

Keep in mind the temperature when you are travelling with your Milwaukee rental cars. If it is hot, remember that your cat is in a carrier and may not feel as cool as you are due to restricted airflow, so it is important to keep the car cool at all times. It is also important that you do not leave your car in the car at any time. If you need to make a pit stop, make sure there is always an adult in the car with your animal. Hot cars are dangerous for animals, who feel the heat faster than a human, especially when confined to a cage. If you are travelling in the winter, also keep the temperature in mind so that your friend does not get too cold, although this is less of a concern for very short stops than hot weather is.

Planning for your trip

When you know you will be travelling with Milwaukee rental cars, you may want to withhold food for a few hours before you will be travelling to avoid carsickness. Make sure your cat has plenty of water, and offer water during a long journey as well. If you know your cat will be sick during the car ride, ask your vet about an anti-nausea pill you can give your cat before travel. Once you arrive at your destination, offer some food and find a safe room where your cat can establish a territory for itself. It is important that you do not let your cat outside (if it is an outdoor cat) for at least a week to allow it to become acclimatized to the area and used to their new surroundings.

When you are travelling with your cat, your first priority is to make sure your cat is safe in Milwaukee rental cars. You also want to make sure your cat is comfortable and will be happy on the journey so you will both have a safe and fun trip. You can do this by taking a few precautionary measures, such as using carriers properly and making sure your cat is as comfortable as it can be in the carrier and with plenty of water. Although your cat may never enjoy travelling, you can make it more comfortable for them!
